In a bid to enhance supply chain transparency and sustainability, Indonesia will launch a digital dashboard by August to monitor key agricultural commodities such as palm oil, coffee, and rubber. This initiative is particularly relevant given the European Union’s new anti-deforestation regulation, set to take effect in late 2024, impacting $6.5 billion worth of Indonesian exports.
“This regulation is not discriminatory. We need to work together to address deforestation,” stated Vincent Piket, EU Ambassador to Indonesia. Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, expressed the nation’s intent to discuss the dashboard and its implications with the EU and Malaysia in September, emphasizing the country’s readiness to collaborate.
