Volvo Trucks is set to revolutionize the electric truck market with its latest model, which boasts a range of up to 600 km on a single charge. This new capability is a significant breakthrough for long-distance electric transport, enabling trucks to operate on interregional and long-distance routes without the need for frequent recharging.
“Our new electric flagship will be a great complement to our wide range of electric trucks and enable zero-exhaust emission transport also for the longer distances,” said Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks. “It will be a great solution for transport companies with a high annual mileage on their trucks and with a strong commitment to reduce CO2.”
Expanding Electric Reach
Scheduled for release in the second half of 2025, the new Volvo FH Electric will allow transport companies to maintain a full working day of operations without recharging, a game-changer for the industry. This leap forward is made possible by Volvo’s innovative e-axle technology, which enhances battery capacity and efficiency.
Leading the Charge
Volvo Trucks has been a leader in the electric truck industry for five years, offering a diverse range of eight battery-electric models. These models cater to various needs, from city distribution to waste management and now, long-distance transport. To date, Volvo has delivered more than 3,800 electric trucks to customers in 46 countries, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable transport solutions.
“The transport sector represents seven percent of global carbon emissions. Battery-electric trucks are important tools to reduce the climate footprint,” Alm added. “Besides the important environmental gains that electric trucks bring, they offer truck drivers a much better working environment, with much lower levels of noise and vibrations.”
