DESCRIPTION:Before Central Asia could recover from the impacts of COVID-19 and return to pre-pandemic levels of poverty reduction\, the world was plunged into more uncertainty given the war in Ukraine and rising food and fuel prices. These crises could undue decades of efforts in the region’s fight against poverty and are top of mind for households—World Bank survey data shows that over half of respondents across Central Asia are concerned about how these global crises could disrupt their lives. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOn October 17\, the World Bank will host a discussion on how the region can preserve hard-won gains and continue lifting people out of poverty despite these global shocks. Speakers will address: \n\n\n\nHow resilient are Central Asian households in the current climate? \n\n\n\n2. How are poverty trends changing and what can the region expect in the near future? \n\n\n\n3.
