SUMMARY:Multinational Enterprises and Climate Change: Fundamental Risks and Big Opportunities
DESCRIPTION:This event aims to present the findings of a new report: “The effect of multinational enterprises on climate change: supply chain emissions\, green technology transfers\, and corporate commitments.” This report brings together the latest available data\, analysis and literature to answer four key questions related to the relationship between MNEs and climate change: \n(1)    What effect do MNEs currently have on climate change\, through their own activities and through their broader supply chains? \n(2)    How do MNEs shape the potential transfer of “green” technology transfers to domestic firms? \n(3)    How committed are leading MNEs currently to transition their supply chains to net-zero emissions by 2050? \n(4)    What types of policies can influence multinational enterprises’ effect on climate change? \nThe event will further discuss what more countries can and should do to shape the behaviors of MNEs as part of their climate change mitigation plans. For this\, there will be an active discussion that will include a representative of a multinational enterprise with an active commitment towards sustainable development\, and Amir Sokolowski\, the Global Director Climate Change\, at CDP (formerly Carbon Disclosure Project)\, which is a not-for-profit charity that runs the global disclosure system for investors\, companies\, cities\, states and regions to manage their environmental impacts. \nESG News Editorial TeamThe ESG News Editorial Team is comprised of veteran financial journalists and sustainability analysts dedicated to providing real-time\, objective reporting on global ESG regulations\, climate finance\, and corporate governance. SUMMARY:Transforming Global Supply Chains: The Road to Resilience and Sustainability
DESCRIPTION:About This Event\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn a world characterised by disruption and unprecedented change\, supply-chain and procurement strategies are in a period of upheaval. Companies face a multiplying set of risks\, including conflict\, inflation\, climate change\, shifting regulations and shortages of labour and materials. Today’s supply chains must be robust\, not just efficient. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBusinesses are reassessing their entire value chain and must decide where to invest to increase resilience. This includes reducing financial risk\, building capabilities closer to consumer markets and maintaining multiple sourcing options in case of disruption. Meanwhile\, sustainability is a bigger priority for businesses\, in line with regulation\, reputational risk\, corporate social responsibility goals and\, ultimately\, competitive advantage. Although supply-chain and scope 3 emissions can account for up to 90% of a company’s total\, many organisations are already struggling to meet their direct emissions targets. Where do they start as they try to transform their supply chains? \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin chief executives and board leaders for a roundtable discussion\, programmed by Economist Impact and supported by GEP\, to address pressing questions including: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat global trends will have the biggest impact on supply chains in the near-to mid-term? \n\n\n\nHow can businesses embed resilience into their supply chains–what’s working and what isn’t? \n\n\n\nWhere should companies focus immediate efforts to reduce scope 3 emissions? \n\n\n\nHow can companies leverage global supply chain advantages while decreasing exposure to risk?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTweets by EconomistEvents\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nESG News Editorial TeamThe ESG News Editorial Team is comprised of veteran financial journalists and sustainability analysts dedicated to providing real-time\, objective reporting on global ESG regulations\, climate finance\, and corporate governance. SUMMARY:Alliance Action Forum #UNGA 77
DESCRIPTION:Measuring and evaluating business impact is a critical part of the successful delivery of Agenda 2030. There are calls from governments and civil society – and increasingly from companies themselves – for better monitoring to ensure progress and alignment. However\, the world currently lacks a mechanism to hold its most influential companies accountable for their impact and to see whether the actions lead to genuine transformational change on this shared agenda. Holistic transparency and accountability of private sector engagement and impact can support the aspiration the international community seeks for more equity\, fairness and effectiveness in multilateral decision-making. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this context\, together\, as a global and multi-stakeholder Alliance\, how can we aspire to set action for corporate accountability firmly on the UN agenda\, especially looking ahead to creating a roadmap to the Future Summit in 2023? How can we embed business accountability into the UN’s core working principles\, turn narrative into commitments\, and strengthen means of implementation for the SDGs? \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHeld in an interactive workshop format\, the dialogue will have 30 multi-stakeholder participants (civil society\, NGOs\, business associations\, academic institutions\, investors\, multilateral agencies\, consultancies) from WBA’s global Alliance. It will be framed by interventions from representatives from each stakeholder group\, all in line with the ambitions of the 77th Session of the General Assembly. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTweets by RESCUEorg\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nESG News Editorial TeamThe ESG News Editorial Team is comprised of veteran financial journalists and sustainability analysts dedicated to providing real-time\, objective reporting on global ESG regulations\, climate finance\, and corporate governance.
