SUMMARY:Climate Bonds Connect 2022 - Global Conference London
DESCRIPTION:Global Conference – 20 October 2022\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor the 7th year running\, our Climate Bonds annual conference\, now part of the Climate Bonds CONNECT event series\, continues to frame the global discourse and agenda on climate finance.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAs climate impacts batter communities on all continents\, scientists agree we are facing a climate emergency and the window of opportunity to align our economies to a safer 1.5-degree pathway is closing fast. With so much volatility – where concerns about our planet’s future and its climate intersect with petrostate wars; food shortages; health pandemics; species extinction; cost of living increases and more\, we have to find solutions fast. It will not be easy\, but there is hope.  The majority of the world’s institutional investors are aware of the risk such volatility poses to their portfolios if action is not taken. They have a mandate to ensure risk is mitigated over the long term – and they want to act.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nUnder the theme ‘Mobilising $5trillion of Climate Bonds per year by 2025\, this year’s Climate Bonds Global Conference will include discussion sessions with opportunity and solutions-driven conversations teasing out the most relevant topics that bridge science\, policy and finance. Top speakers\, thought leaders\, decision-makers and influencers will discuss the challenges and current trends that shape the future of green finance in emerging and developed markets\, including topics on taxonomies\, policy guidance and transition pathways. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nClimate Bonds Connect 2022: Combining the power of in-person and with the reach of online participation\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Global Conference benefits from a hybrid (online and in-person invitation only) format\, allowing for a wider global audience to be connected to the discussions. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe event will gather investors; asset owners; governments; banks; issuers; regulators among others and provide ample opportunity for networking and building connections. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTweets by ClimateBonds\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nESG News Editorial TeamThe ESG News Editorial Team is comprised of veteran financial journalists and sustainability analysts dedicated to providing real-time\, objective reporting on global ESG regulations\, climate finance\, and corporate governance. SUMMARY:Climate Bonds Connect 2022 - Regional Seminar Asia Pacific
DESCRIPTION:REGIONAL SEMINAR ASIA PACIFIC \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKick-starting our Climate Bonds CONNECT 2022 event series is our Asia Pacific Regional Seminar in Singapore\, where we will convene local and regional actors and focus the conversations on the Asia Pacific region’s priorities to accelerate the development of the sustainable debt market.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAs a region on the front line of climate change impacts\, organisations in Asia have been working relentlessly with significant capacity-building projects in the region. The growing volume of Sovereign labelled issuances for infrastructure investments\, including sustainable Islamic finance growth and Green Sukuk issuances\, positions the region as an influential player in the transitioning of the green finance economy. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe combination of net-zero commitments; policy action; green hubs; global investors; and banking sector support in the region will help pave the way for sustainable growth paths needed to raise the $5trillion of climate bonds issuance per year by 2025. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nClimate Bonds Connect 2022: Combining the power of in-person and with the reach of online participation\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWith a mix of invitation-only in-person participation and a larger online audience connected to the discussions\, the Asia Pacific Regional Seminar will combine the power of in-person events with the reach and flexibility that online participation provides to drive the sustainable finance agenda forward. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLeading investors\, financial leaders and policymakers from across the region will convene in Singapore this October to discuss potential solutions and opportunities for both private sector and governments in moving their economies onto a Paris-aligned pathway. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTweets by ClimateBonds\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nESG News Editorial TeamThe ESG News Editorial Team is comprised of veteran financial journalists and sustainability analysts dedicated to providing real-time\, objective reporting on global ESG regulations\, climate finance\, and corporate governance. SUMMARY:Unlocking Sustainable Finance for Nature-Based Solutions #UNGA77
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an event on the sidelines of UNGA 77 in New York where Devex — in partnership with FinDev Canada\, Pollination and ANZ — will show how private investors and development finance institutions hold the power to protect\, sustainably manage\, and restore ecosystems through investments in nature-based solutions. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nInvestors are now coming under increasing scrutiny over how far their investments support a pathway to net-zero\, particularly in low- and middle-income countries that often bear the highest burden of climate impacts. Private investors and development finance institutions have an opportunity to participate meaningfully in the funding of nature-based projects in these markets and expand access to bankable solutions. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe financing of nature-based solutions requires collaboration across a diverse set of partners\, including the public and private sector\, conservation organizations\, commercial and impact investors\, donors\, and many more. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTweets by devex\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nESG News Editorial TeamThe ESG News Editorial Team is comprised of veteran financial journalists and sustainability analysts dedicated to providing real-time\, objective reporting on global ESG regulations\, climate finance\, and corporate governance. SUMMARY:Innovating New Financing Solutions to Advance the SDGs
DESCRIPTION:Finance is not working for people or the planet. We need to act to change this.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThere is a significant gap between this growing awareness and tangible actions that will result in better outcomes. The COVID-19 pandemic has increased the annual SDG financing gap to $3.7 trillion in 2020\, up from $2.5 trillion in 2019 (OECD) – a drop in the ocean compared to the claimed ESG investment universe. It is certain that in the current landscape of small\, separate sustainable finance initiatives\, often focused in high- and middle-income countries\, we will not deliver the change at scale needed across the financial system globally. A transformational shift in how we think about capital\, the role of capital in society\, and the private sector is needed. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this special fireside chat and audience Q&A\, Impact Entrepreneur’s Laurie Lane-Zucker welcomes the Director of UNDP’s Sustainable Finance Hub\, Marcos Neto\, to discuss the innovative instruments for attracting and disbursing significantly greater amounts of impact capital and exponentially growing the business/finance sector’s social and environmental impact. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe will discuss\, among other topics: \n\n\n\nA new normal where enterprises’ role moves from maximizing profits to maximizing economic\, social\, and environmental impacts or\, to put it even more ambitiously\, our collective human and planetary wellbeingInstruments that enable businesses and investors to continue to be profitable and become more equitable economic models fit for the futureUNDP’s relationship to countries and the private sector in this journey\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMarcos Neto\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMarcos Athias Neto joined UNDP in February 2013 and has since led UNDP’s global work on private sector development and foundations\, first at UNDP’s headquarters in New York and then\, from November 2014\, as head of the Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (IICPSD). In April 2019\, Marcos returned to New York to lead the establishment and management of UNDP’s new Finance Sector Hub. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMarcos led the development of UNDP’s new private sector strategy and its offers on SDG Finance. He co-chairs the executive boards of the Business Call To Action and the Connecting Business Initiative. Apart from his role at UNDP\, Marcos also serves on the Supervisory Boards of CARE International and the Museum of Tomorrow International. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOver the past 25 years\, Marcos has been a leader in sustainable development\, poverty eradication and multi-stakeholder partnership building. He is a passionate advocate for the Sustainable Development Goals. Prior to joining UNDP\, Marcos spent 17 years at CARE International. During his tenure at CARE International\, Marcos served in numerous roles including Regional Manager for Asia and Latin America at CARE UK\, Executive Director of CARE Brasil\, and Program Director in Central America. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMarcos has lived and worked in Central and South America\, Europe and the United States and has also worked in Asia\, Middle East and Africa. He is a lawyer by training\, with a Master of Laws from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) at the University of London. Marcos is married and has two children. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTweets by ImpactEMagazine\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nESG News Editorial TeamThe ESG News Editorial Team is comprised of veteran financial journalists and sustainability analysts dedicated to providing real-time\, objective reporting on global ESG regulations\, climate finance\, and corporate governance. SUMMARY:Sustainable Finance in 2022: Putting Europe's Ambition into Practice
DESCRIPTION:Post COP26\, the financial sector has a key role to play in supporting the urgent transition to a sustainable economy. Governments and regulators around the world are stepping up efforts to integrate climate and sustainability into regulation\, impacting an ever larger part of financial transactions\, products\, firms\, and entire value chains. 2022 is\, in many ways\, the year that sustainable finance is expected to become truly mainstream. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEurope has been a global champion in the sustainable finance agenda\, and the implementation of key EU legislation like the EU Taxonomy and Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation has now begun. SUMMARY:All talk (and no action)?
DESCRIPTION:What does stakeholder capitalism look like in practice\, and what does it really mean for businesses?  \n\n\n\nStakeholder capitalism has been a popular term at international summits and in boardrooms in recent years一and for good reason. Even before the covid-19 pandemic\, global crises such as climate change were forcing overdue conversations about the role of business in society. And CEO after CEO announced their commitment to go beyond shareholder primacy to provide value for all\, in order to contribute to a fairer and more sustainable future. But words are one thing; action is quite another. And while the theory of stakeholder capitalism一taking into account the needs of all stakeholders and favouring long-term value creation一may sound straightforward enough\, the practice is less so.The challenge for business is to translate concept into reality\, and good intention into outcome. For businesses to embrace stakeholder capitalism\, they need to understand its tenets and how they can organise their company around them. Not only that\, companies must be able to measure and communicate their impact to investors\, employees and customers\, a task far more challenging than reporting quarterly earnings.Stakeholder capitalism may have plenty of proponents\, but these are matched by its detractors. Some believe businesses exist primarily to make a profit\, while others deride stakeholder capitalism as nothing more than corporate bluster. But can businesses prove them wrong?Programmed by Economist Impact and supported by Enel\, this webinar will bring together business executives\, academics\, investors and thinkers to examine how businesses can take stakeholder capitalism from concept to reality. The questions that will be addressed include:  \n\n\n\nHow can companies organise around the stakeholder capitalism principle? What are the greatest challenges in moving away from a shareholder-primacy model? How can businesses effectively measure and communicate the value created for stakeholders? How can they go beyond PR-talk? Does stakeholder capitalism make for good business? What potential advantages could it bestow on companies? What is the experience of companies that have embraced stakeholder capitalism? What lessons can be learned from their example? Is stakeholder capitalism the best way for businesses to deliver value to society? Is that the role of private industry? Is the dominance of the stakeholder model a fait accompli?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTweets by economistimpact\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nESG News Editorial TeamThe ESG News Editorial Team is comprised of veteran financial journalists and sustainability analysts dedicated to providing real-time\, objective reporting on global ESG regulations\, climate finance\, and corporate governance.
