DBS Bank has appointed Shilpa Gulrajani as its new Head of Sustainable Finance for Institutional Banking. Gulrajani joins DBS after more than two decades with BNP Paribas, where she recently held the role of Head of Corporate Development and Sustainability for Asia Pacific. Her extensive background in sustainability positions her to drive DBS’s sustainable finance efforts across the region.

In her new role, Shilpa Gulrajani will focus on ESG business origination, providing advisory and financing solutions designed to support corporate clients in their transition to net-zero. This appointment marks a strategic move for DBS to deepen its sustainability commitment within the Asian market.

Gulrajani succeeds Yulanda C., who stepped down seven months ago after a six-and-a-half-year tenure. DBS’s ongoing commitment to sustainable finance aligns with regional initiatives like the Singapore-Asia Taxonomy, launched in December 2023 by the Monetary Authority of Singapore, which integrates transition finance into green taxonomy frameworks.

Reflecting on the evolving importance of sustainability, Shilpa Gulrajani commented, “Sustainability, as a topic today, is more real than ever. The importance to which, has rather been better understood more widely in the past few years although it was constantly highlighted by several world leaders who believed in it, even when it was not fashionable. The way I view it, in order for sustainability to become mainstream, we have to embed it in our day-to-day business DNA – it is very much a part of a corporate’s strategy.”

With Gulrajani’s appointment, DBS strengthens its focus on ESG solutions, aiming to support businesses in their sustainable transformation journey across Asia.
