The Climate Drive Empowers Supply Chain to Accelerate Decarbonization Efforts

The Climate Drive
Listen to this story:

Launched earlier this year by WBCSD, The Climate Drive is a game-changing platform designed to support businesses and their suppliers in speeding up decarbonization efforts. It is now expanding its content offering, featuring a comprehensive Net Zero Guidebook soon available in additional languages, along with an Action Library of around 100 decarbonization actions and case studies that provide practical insights into business impact and implementation for effective climate action.

Launched earlier this year by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), The Climate Drive is on its way to becoming the go-to resource for corporate decarbonization, providing a solid foundation for businesses and their suppliers to enhance their sustainability efforts. With the support and backing of new knowledge and ecosystem partners, 50+ WBCSD member companies and Global Network partners, The Climate Drive is taking major steps to expand its high-quality content offering and empower businesses to confidently turn their decarbonization ambitions into action.

Now available:

  • The Net Zero Guidebook, covers the fundamentals of the decarbonization journey for businesses – from how to best prepare your organization, to setting targets, effectively decarbonizing, and then reporting on progress. The Net Zero Guidebook has been written by experts from Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and The Carbon Trust’s Net Zero Intelligence Unit, and reviewed by WBCSD member companies. It can be used as the reference for businesses to ensure they align with latest decarbonization best practices, and includes the latest updates on the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) and Transition Planning. The Guidebook will also be available in Portuguese and Spanish soon with the support of WBCSD’s Global Network partners BCSD Brazil (CEBDS) and BCSD Spain (Forética), and more languages to follow next year to enhance global accessibility.
  • The Action Library now boasts almost 100 decarbonization actions and case studies spanning various sectors. These resources are designed to enable businesses to effectively support their suppliers with bite-sized information to drive implementation of key decarbonization levers, such as decarbonizing low-temperature heating or leveraging energy management systems. It contains contributions by partners such as the WBCSD’s Forest Solutions Group, Solar Impulse Foundation, PwC, The Carbon Trust Net Zero’s Intelligence Unit and BCG, as well as from members of WBCSD, Global Network partners, and soon from the Scope 3 Peer Group. The Action Library is the premier open business platform for businesses to access free and practical decarbonization knowledge, including details on business impact and implementation.
  • The Readiness Check, developed with Oxford Net Zero, can be used by businesses to self-assess progress against latest expectations from Top 30 Net Zero initiatives and standards to better inform and prioritize climate action.

The Climate Drive will be on stage at the upcoming COP28 conference in Dubai this year, serving as an open, high-quality, and actionable resources hub for businesses to drive decarbonization action along their value chain.  Join our in-person interactive session “Supply chain decarbonization at scale: The Climate Drive” on the 3rd of December.
