Aegis Energy has secured a £100M investment from Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners to build the UK’s first clean, multi-energy refuelling hubs for commercial vehicles. The hubs will support fleets transitioning to electric, HVO, hydrogen, and bio-CNG fuels.
“The transition will take time and play out differently for each fleet, but by providing public hubs with multiple clean energy options, we’re supporting operators to choose how they want to make the transition,” said Christopher Thorneycroft-Smith, Co-founder at Aegis Energy.
“Supporting innovators like Aegis creates significant opportunities to fill gaps in infrastructure needed to provide accessible clean energy to transport fleets,” commented Keith Gains, Managing Director at Quinbrook.
The investment will fund an initial five-station network, including locations in Sheffield, Immingham, Warrington, Corby, and Towcester, all slated for completion by 2027. Each hub is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 14,300 tonnes annually.

With transport being the UK’s highest emitting sector, Aegis Energy aims to fill a critical infrastructure gap. The UK faces growing regulatory pressure to decarbonize, with sales bans on non-zero emission vehicles planned for 2035-2040. Aegis Energy’s hubs will provide scalable solutions to help fleets decarbonize efficiently.
The company plans a network of up to 30 hubs by 2030, positioning itself as a leader in low-carbon infrastructure. Each hub will feature high-speed electric charging and other low-carbon fuel options, serving 40+ HGVs and 25+ vans simultaneously, with safe parking and driver amenities.
This investment marks Quinbrook’s first foray into sustainable transport and complements its existing net-zero portfolio across the UK, US, and Australia. Aegis Energy’s expansion will support the UK’s journey towards a cleaner, more sustainable transport system.
