SGS Expands Partnership with EcoVadis to Deliver Trusted ESG Auditing Services

• SGS becomes an accredited EcoVadis auditing partner, expanding verification capacity for global ESG assessments.
• Partnership aims to strengthen transparency in supply chains through on-site audits, worker voice data, and remediation tracking.
• Move aligns with rising corporate demand for third-party verification amid stricter sustainability reporting frameworks.

Expanding ESG Verification Capacity

Geneva-based inspection and certification firm SGS has joined the EcoVadis network as an accredited auditing partner, deepening collaboration between two of the world’s leading players in corporate sustainability assessment and assurance. The partnership expands EcoVadis’s ability to deliver trusted environmental, social, and governance (ESG) verification services at a time when global regulatory and investor scrutiny on supply chains continues to intensify.

Under the agreement, SGS will provide specialized on-site audit services to EcoVadis clients seeking additional verification and training following risk findings in their sustainability assessments. The collaboration is designed to address the rising need for independent validation in ESG data and performance, particularly where high-risk labor, environmental, or governance issues are detected.

Targeted Audits Rooted in Worker Insights

EcoVadis’s Worker Voice solution, which gathers anonymous insights from employees across global supply chains, is central to this new partnership. When potential human rights or labor violations are flagged, clients can commission SGS’s global network of more than 800 auditors to conduct targeted investigations, verify claims, and oversee remediation.

This isn’t just about referrals; it’s about curating a network of trusted experts who share our commitment to client success,” said Pierre-François Thaler, co-founder and co-CEO of EcoVadis. “Our clients frequently ask us for recommendations for high-stakes services like audits, and we have a responsibility to connect them with the very best. SGS is a great addition to our ecosystem.

The partnership’s emphasis on worker voice and monitored remediation reflects a broader shift in ESG evaluation—from static disclosures toward continuous performance tracking and transparent verification.

Strengthening ESG Ecosystem Collaboration

EcoVadis has positioned its partner ecosystem as a key driver of growth, innovation, and value creation. Its collaborations with specialized firms like SGS are designed to deliver end-to-end ESG solutions that extend beyond ratings, integrating capacity-building, data intelligence, and verified assurance.

For SGS, the partnership offers access to EcoVadis’s vast corporate client base spanning 125,000 companies across 180 industries. “We are excited to provide additional support to EcoVadis’s ecosystem using our large network of expert auditors,” said Neil Willings, Global Head of Sustainability and Supply Chain at SGS. “This partnership will allow us to offer our specialized audit expertise to a broader client base while collaborating with a company that truly understands the power of strategic partnerships.

Implications for Global ESG Governance

The timing of the partnership coincides with a global tightening of ESG disclosure standards. Frameworks such as the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) metrics, and supply chain due diligence laws in the U.S., EU, and Asia are pushing companies toward third-party verification to substantiate claims.

By aligning its auditing network with EcoVadis’s digital assessment platform, SGS positions itself at the center of this compliance-driven transformation—where reliable verification and remediation tracking are becoming essential for maintaining supplier credibility and investor confidence.

Outlook: Data Integrity as ESG Currency

As investors, regulators, and consumers demand more transparency, the ability to verify sustainability performance on the ground is becoming a strategic differentiator. The SGS–EcoVadis partnership represents an emerging model for how data-driven ESG ecosystems can merge analytics, auditing, and human insight to create accountability in global supply chains.

For companies navigating the next wave of ESG regulation, partnerships like this offer both operational assurance and strategic alignment—reinforcing that in the evolving sustainability economy, data integrity is fast becoming its own form of currency.
