3M is premiering a global docuseries, “Green Works,” to showcase the powerful role of green jobs in driving climate solutions. The series, produced in collaboration with Generous Films, features professionals from diverse industries who are tackling climate challenges through renewable energy, electric vehicles, reforestation, climate education, and sustainable fashion.

The docuseries, which premiered at the Fast Company Innovation Festival ahead of New York Climate Week, will soon be available on-demand via Apple TV and Google Play.

“There is an urgent need for more innovative thinking and diverse approaches to address the challenges of climate change,” said Gayle Schueller, 3M’s Senior Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer. “Through science and technology, we can develop solutions that drive positive impact—but we need more people in green jobs with the skillsets to scale these solutions.”

Inspiring the Green Workforce

Through five compelling stories, “Green Works” follows individuals making a difference in climate action. These professionals represent sectors such as startups, NGOs, and large corporations, demonstrating how green jobs bring a sense of purpose to their lives and offer scalable solutions to the global climate crisis. Featured professionals include:

  • Dov Rosenmann, Head of Country, Earthworm Foundation, promoting sustainable practices.
  • Estefanía Pihen González, Chief of Education and Learning, California Academy of Sciences, working in climate education.
  • Ka-young Hyun, Application Engineer at 3M, ensuring the safety of EV batteries.
  • Matthias Martensen, Co-Founder of Ostrom, driving Germany’s energy transition.
  • Wang Yilei, Founder of Sportsinnov.Club, improving sustainable practices in the Chinese sports industry.

Closing the Green Talent Gap

3M is partnering with Work on Climate, a nonprofit known for creating the world’s largest online community for green jobs. Together, they aim to provide practical resources and next steps for professionals interested in pursuing green careers. Additionally, 3M is funding initiatives through 3Mgives to support green careers globally, including partnerships with organizations in the U.S., Germany, Korea, Brazil, and Canada.

“By investing in these organizations, we can advance 3M’s commitment to equity and opportunities in STEM and skilled trades, while expanding into the green economy,” said Michael Stroik, Vice President of 3Mgives.

Accelerating the Green Jobs Transition

At New York Climate Week, 3M will hold events emphasizing the urgent need for skilled green workers to drive the green economy forward. A panel discussion on Sept. 24 at The Nest Climate Campus will include thought leaders from 3M Ventures, Work on Climate, TPG Rise Climate, and Jobs for the Future, focusing on strategies for accelerating green jobs development.
