Big names unite for climate action. ALDI, Avantor, and McCain Foods have joined the Supplier Leadership on Climate Transition (Supplier LOCT), a Guidehouse initiative aimed at reducing Scope 3 carbon emissions. The consortium, launched in 2021, focuses on guiding suppliers to achieve science-based GHG reduction targets.
“Suppliers increasingly recognize the urgency in being part of the climate solution,” said Britt Harter, partner at Guidehouse. “Through Supplier LOCT, participants become experts within their own organizations on all the steps necessary to realize meaningful carbon emissions reduction.”
To date, 25 organizations and nearly 1,000 suppliers have engaged in Supplier LOCT’s expert-led workshops, which include tailored seminars on creating GHG footprints, setting science-based targets, and disclosing to stakeholders like the Carbon Disclosure Project.
ALDI’s commitment to sustainability. Josiah McClellan, director of sustainability at ALDI USA, emphasized the retailer’s role in supporting suppliers to achieve emissions goals. “Accelerating climate action requires collective movement. ALDI is proud to join Supplier LOCT and collaborate with organizations on a shared mission to act swiftly and scale climate solutions.”

Life sciences lead the way. Avantor, the first life sciences company in the consortium, highlights the importance of industry leadership. “We are delighted that so many companies have already come together under the Supplier LOCT consortium to support suppliers in developing effective decarbonization strategies,” said Emma Howcroft, Avantor’s global sustainability sourcing director.
Building capabilities for scale. McCain Foods, a global leader in food production, recognizes the critical role of supplier collaboration in addressing supply chain emissions, which account for over 75% of its GHG footprint. Helen Whitehouse, McCain’s VP of global procurement, stated: “Joining Supplier LOCT encourages members to reduce emissions and provides practical knowledge to guide them. Building capabilities is a core part of our climate strategy.”
The consortium’s evolving curriculum ensures suppliers receive up-to-date guidance, aligning with emerging climate standards and regulations. “Supplier LOCT underscores the critical role that cross-industry collaboration plays in addressing the urgent challenges posed by climate change,” said Nicole DelSasso, director of Supplier LOCT at Guidehouse.
By uniting brands across sectors, Supplier LOCT is advancing a global movement to combat climate change, emphasizing scalable, science-based solutions.
