BBVA achieved a new milestone in sustainable business, channeling €26 billion in the second quarter of 2024. This marks a record for the Group, contributing to a total of €46 billion mobilized in the first half of 2024—an increase of 37% compared to the same period in 2023.
“An important catalyst of this record figure was the significant momentum in project finance, which saw triple digit growth (+149 percent in the first six months of the year over the same period in the previous year). This was driven by financing for renewable energy and cleantech,” said Javier Rodríguez Soler, Global Head of Sustainability and CIB at BBVA.
From January 2018 to June 2024, BBVA has mobilized €252 billion in sustainable business, progressing steadily towards its goal of €300 billion by 2025. Of this, 77% is dedicated to combating climate change and preserving natural capital, while 23% supports inclusive growth.
