  • The new bp pulse hub near LAX features 48 ultrafast EV charging bays, with 400kW and 150kW chargers to serve ride-hail, rental, and local EV drivers.
  • The site is partially funded by a $2 million California Energy Commission grant and includes upcoming public amenities such as restrooms, a lounge, vending machines, and Wi-Fi.
  • The hub supports bp’s national EV infrastructure expansion, with more airport-adjacent sites in development through a partnership with Hertz.

bp pulse, bp’s global EV charging business, has opened its largest US charging hub, located just two miles from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The site features 48 ultrafast DC fast charging bays, equipped with a mix of 400kW and 150kW chargers and both CCS and NACS connectors.

Our new hub near LAX is another example of how we’re bringing fast, reliable charging to our customers when and where they need it, alongside convenient amenities,” said Sujay Sharma, CEO of bp pulse Americas. We’re committed to expanding our charging network to more metro and airport locations like this one to support EV drivers and ride-hailing fleets in a simple, reliable, and cost-effective way.”

The LAX hub was partially funded by a $2 million grant from the California Energy Commission (CEC) and is designed to serve a mix of users, including ride-hail drivers, rental car customers, and local EV owners. Additional public amenities—including a lounge, vending machines, restrooms, and free Wi-Fi—will open soon.

The LAX hub marks another important milestone in California’s journey to a clean, electric transportation future, providing fast charging infrastructure precisely where it is needed most,” said David Hochschild, Chair of the CEC. “This project serves as a successful model for the kind of the public-private partnerships we need to accelerate our innovation economy, create new jobs and improve air quality.

The launch follows bp pulse’s ongoing national expansion strategy, which includes building EV hubs near high-demand locations, particularly airports. The strategy is being carried out in collaboration with Hertz to support EV adoption among rideshare and rental fleets.

With EVs often the preferred choice for our rideshare drivers, charging infrastructure like the new bp pulse hub near LAX is essential to supporting their daily operations,” said Daria Holbrook, EVP Mobility at Hertz. “This prime location near the airport combined with ultrafast charging capabilities will help drivers stay powered up and on the road, supporting one of the nation’s busiest transportation hubs.

bp pulse continues to deploy ultrafast chargers across its broader US network, including bp retail sites and new destinations, as part of its goal to create a convenient, nationwide charging ecosystem.
