Ciara McCarthy Joins Climate Impact Partners

Sustainable agroforestry and natural climate solutions expert Ciara McCarthy, with over two decades of experience, has joined Climate Impact Partners as Head of Technical Due Diligence. McCarthy aims to further enhance the organization’s rigorous quality assurance processes.

McCarthy transitions from Verra, where she led the Natural Climate Solutions team, ensuring the integrity and high-quality credits for nature-based projects. Her career spans forest conservation across various ecosystems, focusing on afforestation/reforestation, biodiversity conservation, risk management, policy development, and environmental and social safeguards.

Leveraging her experience as a carbon, forestry, and biomass auditor, McCarthy will refine Climate Impact Partners’ due diligence processes, ensuring their climate solutions deliver maximum integrity and impact. “I am excited to join an organization driven by its laser focus on quality,” McCarthy said. “We need to ensure the voluntary carbon market can scale with integrity to deliver on climate, social, and biodiversity benefits.

Commitment to Excellence

McCarthy’s background includes serving as a Senior Lead Auditor for schemes like FSC, PEFC, and Rainforest Alliance. She is currently completing a Masters in Tropical Forestry at Bangor University. “Corporates channelling finance to nature-based projects should feel confident in communicating about these projects and making claims underpinned by high-quality carbon credits,” McCarthy emphasized.
