ATLANTA, Dec. 2, 2024 – The Coca‑Cola Company has unveiled updated environmental goals aimed at advancing its sustainability agenda through 2035. These targets prioritize water security, packaging sustainability, and emissions reductions, supported by innovation, collaboration, and infrastructure investments.
“We remain committed to building long-term business resilience and earning our social license to operate through our evolved voluntary environmental goals,” said Bea Perez, Coca-Cola’s Executive Vice President and Global Chief Communications, Sustainability & Strategic Partnerships Officer.
Water Security
The company aims to replenish more than 100% of the water used in its products globally and has extended this goal to include specific replenishment in over 200 high-risk locations. These represent nearly a third of Coca-Cola’s global footprint and were identified through rigorous analysis updated in 2024.
Coca-Cola also plans a reassessment of facility risk profiles within five years to ensure resource alignment where water security needs are most critical.

Sustainable Packaging
Coca-Cola seeks to integrate 35%-40% recycled materials into its primary packaging while achieving a 70%-75% collection rate for packaging globally.
Design and Collection Pillars:
- Over 95% of Coca-Cola’s packaging is already recyclable, with innovations targeting the remaining portion.
- The company plans to advocate for improved collection systems and invest in refillable packaging infrastructure in applicable markets.
Climate Commitment
Coca-Cola has committed to reducing its emissions across its operations in alignment with a 1.5°C trajectory by 2035. This includes Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, with a focus on integrating acquired businesses over time.
“These challenges are complex and require us to drive more effective and efficient resource allocation and work collaboratively with partners to deliver lasting positive impact,” Perez emphasized.
Beyond 2035
While discontinuing a formal agricultural goal, Coca-Cola will continue its sustainable sourcing efforts to conserve resources, prevent deforestation, and support agricultural communities.
The company plans to report progress annually, refining strategies as market dynamics and stakeholder expectations evolve.
“We know we will have more chapters in our journey and that we can’t do it alone,” Perez said. “Continued collaboration, targeted investments, and well-designed policies are crucial to help create shared value for all.”
