Glimpact Launches Free Global Impact Score Tool to Help Fashion Brands Meet EU Eco-Design Rules

  • First U.S. Tool Built on EU’s PEF Standards: Global Impact Score is the first free online platform in North America aligned with the EU’s Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) framework, preparing brands for upcoming eco-design regulations.
  • Holistic Measurement Beyond Carbon: The tool analyzes 16 environmental indicators—from water use to eco-toxicity—enabling apparel companies to pinpoint and reduce environmental impact across the product life cycle.
  • Strategic Shift from Greenwashing to True Impact: Brands gain access to real-time eco-design simulations, empowering them to move from cosmetic ESG gestures to data-backed sustainability strategies.

Glimpact has launched Global Impact Score, the first freely accessible online platform in North America that allows fashion brands to measure and reduce the environmental footprint of their products—preparing them for the regulatory wave led by the EU’s new Eco-design for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR).

Built on the Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) methodological framework adopted by the EU, the platform calculates environmental impact across 16 indicators, including land use, water consumption, eco-toxicity, and climate change, delivering a unified score that represents the product’s “environmental price.”

The environmental crisis is not just about climate, it’s systemic and must take into account all components of the ecological crisis,” said Christophe Girardier, Founder and CEO of Glimpact.

The tool goes beyond traditional life cycle assessment (LCA) by offering dynamic simulations. Brands can evaluate the environmental effects of changes to materials, production methods, and sourcing decisions in real time—allowing for science-driven eco-design strategies.

Our new Global Impact Score tool makes the scientific methodological framework adopted by the European Union accessible to all fashion stakeholders,” said Girardier. “This empowers brands to prepare for and comply with the requirements of the ESPR.

In addition to brand-level insights, the tool was recently used to analyze real apparel products from Patagonia, Reformation, H&M, Alo Yoga, and Ralph Lauren, shedding light on the often-overlooked upstream processes that drive environmental impact.

With open access for both businesses and consumers, the platform marks a significant step toward democratizing sustainability intelligence in an industry under increasing pressure for transparency and regulatory compliance.

“It is time for the fashion industry to embrace a new era—placing eco-design at the heart of development models and not at a purely marketing and opportunistic level,” Girardier added.

As ESG scrutiny intensifies and disclosure mandates expand, Glimpact’s tool offers the fashion sector a timely, practical solution to align product development with measurable, systemic sustainability outcomes.
