Iberdrola Advances Supply Chain Sustainability Training with UN Compact

  • More than 920 SME suppliers join Iberdrola’s latest sustainability training, spanning four continents.
  • The initiative builds on previous years, where 338 suppliers completed the program with 96% finding it useful.
  • Iberdrola enforces a strict supplier Code of Conduct covering human rights, inclusion, safety, and anti-corruption.

Iberdrola has renewed its collaboration with the UN Global Compact in Spain, taking part in the third edition of the Sustainable Suppliers Training Programme. This year, the initiative will provide sustainability training to more than 920 SME suppliers across the four continents where Iberdrola operates.

The programme, promoted by UN Global Compact Spain with ICEX and the ICO Foundation, is designed to integrate sustainability into supply chains through the Global Compact’s Ten Principles and the UN 2030 Agenda. Over its previous editions, 338 suppliers completed the training, with more than 96% reporting it was valuable for their business.

Our mission is to strengthen sustainability across the entire value chain,” Iberdrola said, noting that its suppliers must align with its Code of Conduct, which sets standards on human rights, equal opportunities, inclusion, occupational safety, environmental protection, and anti-fraud measures.

For five months, participating SMEs will access free online training, live sessions, templates, and case studies. Upon completion, suppliers receive certification, reinforcing their sustainability credentials.

The broader programme, now in its third year, has already reached more than 5,200 suppliers in 72 countries, supported by Iberdrola and 47 other major Spanish companies. Beyond this initiative, Iberdrola also runs “Initiatives for SMEs” to further strengthen the sustainability practices of its partners.
