Meta’s 2024 Responsible Business Practices Report highlights our commitment to minimizing negative societal impacts while maximizing positive contributions. Themed “Unlocking Potential,” it showcases our progress across transparency, sustainability, and empowerment initiatives. This year’s report, based on 2023 data, reflects efforts to create lasting value for stakeholders, including customers, employees, and investors.

Key Initiatives:

In 2023, Meta made significant strides by releasing Llama, a collection of open-source large language models (LLMs). These models, downloaded over 170 million times, empower individuals globally by offering cutting-edge AI tools. “We believe access to AI can unlock potential for individuals worldwide,” Meta reported.

To ensure responsible AI development, we formed the AI Alliance, collaborating with over 50 companies and organizations. This partnership accelerates innovation while prioritizing ethical AI practices.

Meta expanded parental supervision tools globally across platforms like Facebook and Messenger. Additionally, we launched Take It Down, a platform dedicated to preventing the spread of intimate images of minors.

Meta maintained net-zero emissions across operations and implemented a science-based emissions reduction plan. Our decarbonization roadmap highlights efforts to systematically reduce our environmental impact.

Human Rights and Sustainability:

This year’s report also includes updates on Meta’s human rights initiatives. We completed a Human Rights Salient Risk Assessment, addressing the rights and challenges of marginalized groups. Our latest Human Rights Report reflects ongoing efforts to understand and mitigate risks to vulnerable populations.
