  • Medium and long-term goals are established regarding the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the energy transition.
  • In the social aspect, commitments are made to improve industrial safety performance and actions to generate positive impacts, and strengthen its relationship with the communities.

The Sustainability Plan of Petróleos Mexicanos (PEMEX) was authorized by its Board of Directors, through Agreement CA-010-2024, which is aligned with the strategic objective of the institution’s Business Plan to “Consolidate the route to sustainable performance.”

In line with the vision of sustainable development of the United Nations and the commitments assumed by the Mexican authorities, the management of PEMEX developed its Sustainability Plan, establishing goals and ambitions in the medium (2030) and long term (2050), in terms of reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and energy transition.
The goals established in said Plan were defined based on opportunities and challenges identified in the PEMEX value chain and its business model.

This plan obtained the favorable opinion of the Sustainability Committee and was supported in its preparation by Standard & Poor’s Global Commodity Insights, a consulting firm of international prestige, recognized in advising on issues related to energy transition, low carbon options, management emissions and the environment.

In the social aspect, commitments are made to improve industrial safety performance, actions to generate positive impacts, and strengthen its relationship with the communities. Within the framework of a culture of compliance, the anti-corruption approach stands out as a permanent legacy.

In order to strengthen and promote governance conditions that enable effective execution of the sustainability strategy, the plan identifies key enablers and promotes transparency and disclosure of information, aligned with international standards.
