- Chloe George appointed as Head of ESG at specialist consultancy Seahorse Environmental
- Chloe was formally Head of ESG Strategy and Engagement at BT and at Barclays previously
- Seahorse also hires renewable energy M&A journalist and FCB Inferno exec
Chloe George joins Seahorse to lead their new, dedicated ESG and Corporate Sustainability practice. Chloe has ten years’ experience in ESG, sustainability and communications working in the telecomms, financial services and energy sectors. Prior to Seahorse, Chloe was Head of ESG Strategy and Engagement at BT Group, and before that worked at Barclays in both their Corporate Communications and Citizenship & Sustainability teams, and has an MSc in Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability.
The new practice will focus on ESG and sustainability strategic advisory services for businesses, organisations, and financial services – and will work closely with Seahorse’s other teams across decarbonisation, renewable energy, clean tech, nature, and the blue economy. The new practice comes at a time when sustainable finance, transition plans, TNFD, ISSB, double materiality and several other ESG priority areas are accelerating rapidly.
Chloe says: “The ESG and sustainability landscape is constantly changing and the demands on companies and financial institutions are only getting more complicated, technical and exhaustive. The Seahorse team’s expertise on environmental and sustainability issues is outstanding and exactly what our clients need. Delivering ambitious, future-focused strategies has been central to Seahorse’s work since day one – and our approach to ESG and Sustainability will be no different.”
Seahorse has been built on its no-greenwash approach to client work and Managing Director & Founder Isabella Gornall plans to bring this approach to their corporate sustainability work. Isabella says: “As Seahorse continues to grow and expand its services, I am delighted to launch our ESG and Corporate Sustainability practice. Chloe brings a solid FTSE100 background, and impressive experience that will reinforce our offering to start-ups, SMEs, corporates and financial services in a complex and evolving landscape.”
Chloe will be working alongside Seahorse advisors, Trewin Restorick (winner of Business Green’s lifetime achievement award), Graham McMillan (ESG, communications and public affairs expert), and Benet Northcote (former Sustainability Director at John Lewis Partnership).
Also joining Seahorse is Katie Davies and Tim Bryant. Katie joins from IJGlobal where she was a journalist reporting on European renewables mergers & acquisitions. Tim joins Seahorse from the advertising agency FCB Inferno where he set up FCB Green and worked on behaviour change marketing communications campaigns. Seahorse has also recently promoted Alice Russell and Charles Long to Account Manager.
