Aramco and BYD have signed a Joint Development Agreement to accelerate innovation in new energy vehicle technologies, aiming to reduce emissions and boost efficiency in the transport sector.

The agreement brings together the research and development expertise of Saudi Aramco Technologies Company (SATC)—a wholly-owned subsidiary of Aramco—and BYD, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of new energy vehicles and batteries.

“The collaboration between SATC and BYD aims to support energy efficiency improvements,” said Ali A. Al-Meshari, Senior Vice President of Technology Oversight & Coordination at Aramco. “This work stems from our belief that multiple approaches are necessary to support a practical energy transition.”

The partnership will focus on advancing lower-carbon fuels, powertrain innovations, and scalable transport solutions that align with global decarbonization goals.

By combining Aramco’s energy systems expertise with BYD’s strength in electrification, the alliance seeks to deliver practical advancements that address both performance and sustainability demands in the mobility sector.
