Inter IKEA Group has officially appointed Lena Julle as its Chief Sustainability Officer, effective 1 May 2025, reinforcing its commitment to net-zero emissions and circular business transformation.
Julle, a 30-year IKEA veteran, previously led sustainability efforts at IKEA Range, where she focused on developing affordable, sustainable products for global markets. Her permanent promotion comes as IKEA doubles down on its climate goals and prepares for long-term value chain transformation.
“The IKEA goal—to be more affordable, accessible and sustainable, particularly for those with limited budgets—has been close to my heart throughout my journey at IKEA,” said Julle. “We now have an incredible opportunity to design smarter and more sustainable products while advancing our climate agenda and supporting a fairer society.”
In FY23, IKEA aligned its strategy with the Science Based Targets initiative’s Net-Zero Standard, committing to halve emissions across its full value chain by FY30 (compared to FY16) and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. These targets cover every link in the chain—from raw material sourcing to product end-of-life.

“Lena’s leadership and deep understanding of IKEA have already strengthened our journey toward net zero,” said Jon Abrahamsson Ring, CEO of Inter IKEA Group. “As Acting CSO, she made meaningful progress in advancing our sustainability strategy. I look forward to continuing this important work with her.”

Julle succeeds Pär Stenmark, who will transition to a new role within the group. Her appointment underscores Inter IKEA Group’s strategy to embed sustainability into every facet of its operations while accelerating its shift to a circular, climate-positive business model.
