ENGIE North America (ENGIE) and Meta have finalized a significant Environmental Attributes Purchase Agreement (EAPA), enabling ENGIE to deliver 260 MW of renewable energy from the Sypert Branch solar project in Milam County, Texas. This collaboration supports Meta’s growing energy needs aligned with its ambitious net-zero goals.

Expected to start operations in late 2025, Meta will purchase the full 260 MW output from Sypert Branch, developed and operated by ENGIE. Situated 70 miles northeast of Austin, Texas, the project is conveniently located near Meta’s Temple, TX, data center.

“We are delighted to announce this agreement to work with Meta by providing renewable power that supports their growth and aligns with their net zero commitments,” stated Dave Carroll, Chief Renewables Officer and SVP, ENGIE North America. “We are proud that ENGIE’s proven track record in developing, building, and operating renewable assets puts us at the forefront of the energy transition and this agreement with Meta recognizes the importance of that track record to our customers.”

Meta’s Sypert Branch procurement boosts its renewable energy portfolio to over 12 GW. Highlighting the partnership’s impact, Urvi Parekh, Head of Clean Energy at Meta, noted,

Since 2020, we have maintained net zero emissions in our global operations – these efforts are supported by relationships such as those with ENGIE who can consistently deliver and operate projects like Sypert Branch to help meet our energy needs.”

The Sypert Branch project is projected to employ over 300 skilled workers, predominantly from the local area, during its construction phase and will contribute over $69 million in tax revenues throughout the project’s lifecycle. Local school districts will receive approximately $45 million, emphasizing the initiative’s community support.

This agreement also advances ENGIE’s renewable footprint, marking nearly 1 GW of signed U.S. PPAs in 2024 to date. ENGIE’s role as a leading developer in corporate PPAs underscores its commitment to pioneering clean energy solutions across North America.
