Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability Expands with AI Enhancements:

To speed up sustainability progress, Microsoft has expanded its AI capabilities in Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability, focusing on key features like advanced analytics, enhanced reporting, and decision-making tools.

1. Enhanced What-If Analysis

Microsoft’s Sustainability Manager now includes what-if analysis for more precise carbon footprint forecasting. Companies can simulate different business practices and assess their effects on emissions.

Example: Businesses can extend forecast horizons based on historical data—companies with four years of data can forecast up to two years ahead. This improved customizability allows organizations to test and layer various reduction strategies, enabling better planning for sustainability goals.

“This allows businesses to create more informed and strategic plans for reducing their carbon footprint,” according to Microsoft.

Organizations can assess different strategies before implementation, avoiding potential risks. By leveraging AI, businesses gain a competitive edge, optimizing operations and accelerating sustainability progress.

“Intelligent insights offer a wealth of benefits that can help transform the way businesses operate,” Microsoft states.

3. Streamlined ESG Reporting

Project ESG Reporting offers templates for simplified sustainability reporting, helping companies comply with various frameworks like SASB Standards. These tools ensure that companies track progress effectively, communicate results, and identify areas for improvement.

Additionally, DEFRA emission factors have been integrated into Microsoft Sustainability Manager for improved GHG calculations across various sectors like energy and transport.

Microsoft’s updates enable companies to sharpen their sustainability focus, meet regulatory standards, and maintain a competitive edge.
