Robeco has unveiled its new High Income Green Bonds strategy, becoming the first asset manager to offer an Article 9 green bond strategy in the credit market. This innovative approach focuses on generating income through investments in green bonds across global credit sectors.
Green bonds have emerged as a significant tool in supporting environmental transitions. In 2023, they represented over 60% of ESG bond sales and played a key role in the growth of the global ESG-labeled bond market. Proceeds from these bonds are designated for projects that promote sustainability and help companies reduce their carbon footprint.
Joop Kohler, Robeco’s Head of Credits, highlights the importance of the new strategy:
“Robeco’s High Income Green Bonds strategy is our first to focus purely on green bonds from corporate issuers. It successfully combines our sustainability expertise with the credit team’s longstanding track record.”
To ensure bond eligibility, Robeco applies a stringent five-step framework. Only bonds that meet the necessary criteria are considered for inclusion in the portfolio, aligning with the firm’s credit investment process.
