The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has opened a call for companies and financial institutions in the buildings value chain to pilot the Buildings Science-Based Target-Setting Guidance and Tool drafts.

The SBTi published an earlier draft of its Buildings Guidance and Target-Setting Tool in May 2023 for public consultation. Acknowledging the comments received, the initiative moved forward with revision of the guidance and tool. These resources were updated in line with the feedback obtained, and are now undergoing pilot testing.

Companies and financial institutions that are interested in participating in the pilot phase must submit their interest through this form by December 10 2023. Key stakeholders across the buildings value chain that are encouraged to participate include: developers, owner-occupiers, owner-lessors, property managers, significant tenants and financial institutions with investment and lending portfolios related to real estate.

The aim of this pilot phase is for participants to use their datasets to test the SBTi Buildings Guidance and Tool Drafts for Pilot Testing, help identify any possible amendments that need to be made, and inform these resources applicability across regions and businesses.
