BYD, Saudi Electricity Company Sign World’s Largest Grid-Scale Energy Storage Deal

BYD and SEC’s Landmark Deal
BYD Energy Storage and Saudi Electricity Company have signed the world’s largest grid-scale energy storage contract, totaling 12.5GWh. Combined with a previously delivered 2.6GWh project, their collaboration now stands at 15.1GWh.
Supporting Saudi’s Energy Goals
This initiative advances Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, a strategic push to achieve 50% renewable energy. The energy storage systems will be deployed across five sites, stabilizing the grid and addressing fluctuations from increasing renewable power sources.

Cutting-Edge Technology
BYD will supply its MC Cube-T ESS, featuring its CTS (Cell-to-System) super-integrated technology, with a Vcts index exceeding 33%—a global benchmark for efficiency.
“This project will redefine the role of electrochemical energy storage solutions in the global energy transition,” BYD Energy Storage stated.

Since deploying its first battery energy storage system 17 years ago, BYD has now delivered 75GWh of storage solutions to 350 projects across 110+ countries. This massive new deal reinforces its position as a leader in large-scale renewable energy storage.
