- Radisson’s first Verified Net Zero hotel opens in Manchester, aligning with 2040 Net Zero goals today.
- The hotel operates on 100% renewable energy, uses low-carbon menus, and follows a zero-landfill waste strategy.
- Part of a broader commitment by Radisson Hotel Group to reshape hospitality through carbon-conscious operations.
Radisson Hotel Group has opened Radisson Hotel Manchester City Centre, marking the brand’s first-ever Verified Net Zero property and the first Radisson-branded hotel in Manchester. Positioned next to the AO Arena and Manchester Victoria Station, the hotel offers a central, sustainable hospitality experience aimed at modern business and leisure travelers.
“To introduce the Radisson brand to this vibrant and buzzing city is a very exciting moment,” said Jens Brandin, General Manager. “We are immensely proud to achieve Verified Net Zero status, proving our dedication to delivering the pinnacle of sustainable hotel stays.”
Net Zero by Design
The hotel meets the Net Zero Methodology for Hotels 2040—today—by eliminating fossil fuels from its operations and shifting fully to renewable energy, including induction cooking, electric heating, and spa systems. Heat pumps replace gas-powered hot water systems, and 100% renewable electricity powers all functions.
“For the first time, we focus on reducing emissions from energy, operations and the supply chain,” said Inge Huijbrechts, Chief Sustainability & Security Officer, Radisson Hotel Group. “Radisson Hotel Group is taking an essential step in reshaping the future of hospitality, one Verified Net Zero hotel at a time.”
Radisson partnered with Klimato to redesign its food offering. Menus—across dining, meetings, and room service—are curated to minimize environmental impact, with clear carbon footprint labeling and recipe adjustments that reduce emissions by up to 40% without sacrificing quality.
Verified Emissions Reduction
The Verified Net Zero status covers Scopes 1, 2, and 3 emissions, meaning the hotel has accounted for direct energy use, operations, and its entire supply chain. Remaining emissions are offset through nature-based carbon removal, in partnership with Agreena, supporting regenerative agriculture across 4.5 million hectares of European farmland.
The hotel also enforces zero waste-to-landfill policies, optimizing processes under a Reduce, Reuse, Recycle model.

A Premium Stay with Purpose
All 252 rooms and suites reflect Scandinavian-inspired design with neutral tones, wellness-forward layouts, and natural materials. Guests can enjoy a tranquil spa, heated indoor pool, gym, and a restaurant with an outdoor terrace. Event facilities cater for up to 220 people, making it a choice venue for corporate functions.
Located in walking distance from Manchester’s top cultural, retail, and entertainment spots, the hotel enhances Radisson’s Manchester portfolio, joining Radisson Blu Manchester Airport and The Edwardian Manchester, A Radisson Collection Hotel.
“Radisson Hotel Manchester City Centre is more than just a place to stay,” said Brandin. “It’s a destination where guests can relax, rejuvenate, and experience the best that Manchester has to offer with a minimal environmental impact.”
Radisson’s Verified Net Zero initiative continues in July with the opening of Radisson RED Oslo City Centre, as the company leads the transition to sustainable hospitality across Europe.
