Schneider Electric is reshaping the future of sustainability and energy management with the launch of a multi-year initiative to build a category-defining, agentic AI ecosystem. Designed to operate autonomously or in sync with consultants and clients, this next-gen platform leverages artificial intelligence to deliver intelligent, automated decision-making at scale.
“Our vision is collaborative intelligence—agentic AI that works alongside human experts as a true digital teammate,” said Steve Wilhite, President of Sustainability Business Division at Schneider Electric.

Unlike conventional software, Schneider Electric’s agentic AI ecosystem enables intelligent agents to act, adapt, and optimize outcomes in real time, elevating sustainability from a siloed effort to a fully integrated, dynamic enterprise function.
Julien Picaud has been appointed Head of Product Management to spearhead the initiative. His focus will include enhancing core software capabilities and integrating new features from EcoAct, Schneider’s recent acquisition. These capabilities span:
- Decarbonization strategy
- Emissions management & reporting
- Scenario analysis, benchmarking & climate risk
- Energy/resource efficiency & data automation
- Modernized UX for enterprise users
“In specialized fields like energy and sustainability, agentic AI is only as effective as the depth of domain expertise embedded in its design,” said Amy Cravens, Research Director of Sustainability and ESG Software at IDC.
With more than 20 years of global leadership in energy transformation, Schneider Electric is leveraging its deep bench of consulting expertise to design systems that optimize both performance and impact.

The company also underscores its commitment to responsible innovation.
“Recognizing the energy intensity of AI, we are committed to developing and deploying this investment with a focus on computational efficiency and responsible resource usage,” said Dan Whitsell, CTO and Head of Software Engineering for the Sustainability Business Division.
By embedding the principles of frugal AI, Schneider Electric is ensuring that its systems operate on leaner models and efficient infrastructure—delivering intelligent output with reduced energy, emissions, and costs.
Backed by a proven track record in AI innovation—including Resource Advisor Copilot, $15M in global optimization savings, 18+ AI patents, and a key partnership with Nvidia—this initiative cements Schneider’s position as a frontrunner at the intersection of digital innovation, sustainability, and ethical leadership.
