Sergio Fernandez de Cordova Live at the 2022 EarthX Expo in Dallas, Texas

INTERVIEW TRANSCRIPTS:

Sergio Fernandez de Cordova, Chairman, PVBLIC (00:00):

Sergio Fernandez de Cordova executive chairman of the public foundation here to tell you a little bit about our family office for sustainable development sessions that we had today, today was the first time that we came together in person, since we’ve launched the family office for sustainable development, which today we actually was a culmination of our partnership with capital is a force for good and earth X earth X capital is a force for good and public foundations, family office for sustainable development program. During cop 26, came together and said, we need to do a in person event to talk about how family offices can advance the future of the environment, the planet, and bring investment to create economic opportunities and how we start to create the partnerships that bring the United nations programs, as well as the family family office ecosystem under an IP that we created, which is educate, engage, and activate, educate, engage.

Sergio Fernandez de Cordova, Chairman, PVBLIC (00:58):

Activate is our mechanism of how we are educating family offices about long term investments in long term partnerships that can be developed alongside the United nations organisms and ecosystem. Today, we had an opportunity to hear from Chanin Carpentier to tell us how UTA the UN conference of trade and development is one of the mechanisms that can engage private sector investments, family offices, and help us advance the sustainable development goals. Basically what family offices can do is partner with UN initiatives and bringing help create economic development opportunities. So our goal here with the family office for sustainable development is really to bring public and private together within the family office ecosystem. We also heard from Ryan morph, who gave us a little bit about how investing and economic growth, um, is an opportunity in the United States and Latin America to advance the sustainable development goals and what family offices need to look at on how we can actually put not only investment capital, but intellectual capital network capital, and how we could advance the sustainable development goals.

Sergio Fernandez de Cordova, Chairman, PVBLIC (02:06):

We were also able to hear about the museum and what the Latino Smithsonian Latino museum is looking at, how philanthropy and investments can help advance culture, one of the sustainable development goals and what that means today. We also had the pleasure of learning about the capital as a force for good initiative, the force for good initiative, which was led by Katon Patel and John Miller, their co-founders who gave us a little insight on some of the programs and initiatives that they are running in order to not only look at capital family offices and financial institutions, but also at SDGs and ESGs at the core, we also were able to hear a little bit of from the gender lens and investment in Latin America, through SDG five in women, how women are one of the greatest investments that we can make and how we can actually educate family offices, that if we’re not investing

Sergio Fernandez de Cordova, Chairman, PVBLIC (02:58):

In women, we’re not investing at all. We were also able to hear today from Peter Dolan to talk about the next generation of family offices. When we talk at what we are doing with the family office for sustainable development, we cannot do it. As I said before, without focusing on women and focusing on the next generation, if we’re not looking at the next generation in family offices, how are we educating the multi-generational platforms that are evolving today in 70 plus trillion of wealth transfer, that’s happening to actually help us advance the sustainable development goals, not only today, but for generations to come. And as we look at from going from multi-generational all the way across to taking action, how family offices can invest in youth led companies addressing the STGs, right. Again, when we look at not only make sure that we’re investing in women, make sure that we’re looking at the next generation, but now making sure that we’re looking at investments of the next generation of youth entrepreneur leaders, which is the greatest opportunity for family offices to look at the next gen through the lens of the youth, the next generational gen Zs and below.

Sergio Fernandez de Cordova, Chairman, PVBLIC (04:07):

So, and we wrapped up with the prime minister of St. Martin and a prime minister of St. Martin told us about how important it is to have, how do you bring impact through public private partnerships to advance I small island development states, and to make sure that the SDG agenda is at the core and why not only do we need family offices looking at these opportunities in small island development states, but also how, you know, the private sector and financial institutions like what capital for force for good is doing, how they could play a role in advancing economies of scale in small island development states, so that they could advance the SDGs and create economic opportunities, not only to advance their communities, but make sure that we’re building capacity, that we’re building platforms. So that education is at the core of these public private partnerships. And with that, it gives me a, a, a, a great honor to tell you that we had an incredible session again with 52 plus families from different parts of the world here at EARTHx at the family office for sustainable development summit. Thank you. My name is Sergio Fernandez. Decar. I am the executive chairman of the public foundation, and you’re watching ESG news.
